I’m aware that I haven’t been posting to this blog as often as I wanted to.
Setting up new websites and getting involved in new opportunities always takes more time than you anticipate and recently I’ve been doing both those things. It made me think about all the recent internet products launched that promise you can make money ‘tonight’, or a small fortune ‘a week from now’.
So when I read a post about persistence and stating a plain truth, I thought I’d bring it to your attention. You can read the post here.
The point Stan makes is a good one. An internet business is just that – a business. And the chances of making money ‘overnight’ are really very slim. Of course a lot of people sell the promise of instant riches – plenty of people are stupid enough to buy into that. But all the people who make real money on the internet have to put time and effort into it.
Of course, once they’re established, things are different. I know of a few marketers who can make tens of thousands of dollars with what appears to be 30 minutes’ work. And they do make that, regularly. But behind that 30 minutes is the time spent building a list, nurturing customer relationships and building their business in the first place.
Persistence pays off. In every endeavor. Look around you at any wannabe marketer who’s not making money and you’ll most likely see someone who isn’t persistent in their efforts. You’ll see the same thing with people going on a diet, learning a new language, following a self-improvement course, learning an instrument.
Only the ones who stick it out get to their ultimate destination.
Do you have the stickyness it takes to succeed?
