If you’ve just started a new website – and who isn’t doing that these days – you’ll want to get listed in the search engines as fast as possible.
In the past the advice was to ’submit url’ to the likes of Google and Yahoo, MSN. But there’s a quicker way, apparently. I’ll be testing it on a new site I’ve set up.
I thought I’d share the advice with you as it’s quite nifty and it makes use of Google’s own technology.
No, it’s not submitting a sitemap, although that will help. It’s putting Adsense blocks on a page on your new site. If you visit that page and refresh, Google will have to take notice of your site to work out what ads to show.
That gets their attention and gets you in their books pretty fast. That’s not the same as showing up in a web search. That still takes a little while to kick in, but you’ll jump the queue.
An Adsense account is free to open so if you don’t already have one you should get one, although you’ll need to have an existing site for them to look at before they approve you. You can always start a blog at Blogger and put up a couple of posts to get you going. Again it’s free to do.
Then, whenever you have a new site you want to get going with Google you can add the Adsense to the site and load the site in your browser, refresh the page a few times and away you go!
Quite a neat little idea, costs nothing and is simple to do. The organic way of getting found by Google can take weeks, if not months. And for a site intended to make money that can make a big difference.
Now this wasn’t my original idea so I’m going to give a link to the site where I discovered this useful information.
